Despite having to move around a lot during my time in San Diego, I still managed to check out a few new food places and also check off a few from my to-eat list. After picking up our Conan tickets on Thursday, some of my group was in need of sustenance. We made the treck from the Spreckels Theatre to Werewolf. Their breakfast menu is available daily until 1 pm. Not bad for a place that's mainly a bar. Eggs Benedict is one of my top breakfast foods, so I was immediately drawn to their Pork Belly Benedict. This had poached eggs and thick slices of maple glazed pork belly on top of house made potato cakes. I've had my share of this dish, but Werewolf's is by far the most indulgent. A friend and I had lunch at Lucha Libre the Monday following SDCC weekend. I've gone here a few times and have yet to be disappointed. My favorites include their Surfin' California burrito (featured on the show Man vs. Food) and their Champion's Fries. I would have kicked myself...

Today marks 1 month until I make my way down to San Diego for one of the most popular geek conventions of the year—Comic-Con. I'll be posting on my past experiences there in the weeks leading up to the event, along with what I plan to do this year. The first post in this short series is about my first time at SDCC. My first attendance at SDCC was in 2009. Back then a 4-day with Preview Night badge only cost $75. Crazy how things change, yeh? Being new to the event (and really not knowing any better), I went ahead and bought it. My friend who came down with me bought hers later and was only able to get Sunday. So unfortunately I only actually made it out to 2 out of those 5 days that I paid for. NBD. Obviously that wouldn't apply now since prices continue to increase with every year, meaning that you'd have to get your money's worth if you even had the slightest thought about going. This past weekend was tons of fun, as I spent a portion of it in one of my favorite cities, San Diego. The main purpose of my trip was to attend a bonfire/going away shindig for one of my close friends from the area. It was originally set for Coronado Beach, but the slightly gloomy weather prompted a venue change. Paradise Point Cove was an excellent Plan B. There were quite a few people in attendance, with lots of food, drink, and good vibes.  Always love those SD sunsets. The evening was LIT. I stayed there well into the evening, long enough to catch the fireworks from Sea World and witness my friends dancing around the fire pit. I'm sure the group next to us thought we were nuts. Before heading back to SF the next day, I grabbed breakfast with some more friends in North Park. One of them got me my first drink from Holsem, a Colada cold brew. First sip had me like "Whoa".
