Memorial Day Weekend Shenanigans

Image
This past weekend was tons of fun, as I spent a portion of it in one of my favorite cities, San Diego. The main purpose of my trip was to attend a bonfire/going away shindig for one of my close friends from the area. It was originally set for Coronado Beach, but the slightly gloomy weather prompted a venue change. Paradise Point Cove was an excellent Plan B. There were quite a few people in attendance, with lots of food, drink, and good vibes.  Always love those SD sunsets. The evening was LIT. I stayed there well into the evening, long enough to catch the fireworks from Sea World and witness my friends dancing around the fire pit. I'm sure the group next to us thought we were nuts. Before heading back to SF the next day, I grabbed breakfast with some more friends in North Park. One of them got me my first drink from Holsem, a Colada cold brew. First sip had me like "Whoa". Good stuff! They have a Nutella version of it too, so I'll have to go back to...

Countdown to SDCC: Less Than 60 Days!

This past Friday marked 2 months until SDCC. I am internally freaking out for one reason...I'm still not set on accommodations. I'm one of several people who got on the wait list for hotels, and OnPeak has yet to send out any notice via email on whether hotels in downtown are available or not. They did inform of rooms opening outside of downtown. I suppose that's a start. But this is the latest I've ever received any information on hotels in the time that I've attended. I do have a place to stay, but only until Thursday, so it's pretty much a must that I find one for the remainder of the event. It's almost the end of May, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some good news will emerge. Once the weeks get closer, I'll have a few more SDCC related posts up.

First Look: Urban Decay Vice Lipstick

Image
Save the date for June 7th, beauty lovers! Urban Decay will release it's latest collection of lipstick. 100 shades, which include some current ones, plus 20 exclusive to Sephora, makes this the largest lip product launch I've seen in, ever. News of this was hard for me to avoid since I follow them on social media. Too much is never enough. #LipstickIsMyVice #UrbanDecay A photo posted by Urban Decay Cosmetics (@urbandecaycosmetics) on May 7, 2016 at 3:14pm PDT The promo video kicked off my excitement. Oh hai, Ruby Rose.  And if that wasn't enough (of course it wasn't), I skimmed trough a post by Temptalia that has swatches of all 120 colors from the collection.  No lie, this was my reaction. I do have a surprisingly small list of shades from here that I do want to try. However, I'm debating on whether to swatch them in person or just order them and hope for the best. Still have a few weeks to think about it. Do you plan o...

Japan Crate Mini, Volume 10

Image
April's crate was filled with fun shaped candy and snack item. I kind of wish there was more of a balance with what they put in their boxes, but despite that, everything in this one was good. What's inside: Chip Star Ebikoubashi - I've previously tried Chip Star in a different flavor. The packaging is similar to that of Pringles. The shrimp flavor was good, yet a bit on the salty side. Dandy's  and Calbee  are still my favorite for shrimp chips.  Fruit Shop Gummy - These looked like fruit snacks, but with much better flavor. I finished these first.  Fue Ramune - This Life Saver looking candy tastes like the popular soft drink. It has a small hole in the middle that makes a whistling sound when you blow through it. Guaranteed to annoy the heck out of people, if that's your thing.  Rock, Paper, Scissor Gummy - This cola flavored gummy candy comes with different hand shapes used in the Rock, Paper, Scissors game. I got the "pap...

Wish List Wednesday, Volume 1

Image
In an attempt to get posts up on the blog a few times a month, I'll be sharing a few things that I come across that I'd love to some day own. Here we go... 1.   Benefit Cheekathon Blush & Bronzer Palette  - I've been eyeing this for months. I'm not one to wear makeup often, but if I were to get this, I would be set for the whole year with not having to worry about purchasing blush. Love the colors in this palette. 2. Overwatch: Origins Edition  - I got seriously hooked on this game while playing during its beta period last weekend. So much that I was determined to get to a double digit level (ended at Level 12, whoop!). It's set to release May 24th, so I'll be (im)patiently waiting to get my hands on it.  3. Mirror's Edge: Catalyst  - Somewhat unfamiliar with runner type games, I gave this one a shot during another beta period. My interest in checking out the game actually came about when a friend of mine dressed up as the main c...

Captain America: Civil War

Image
The latest in the Marvel movie franchise was released last week. I watched it the other day (almost empty theaters during a "school day", FTW!), and as with most of their movies, I highly enjoyed it. I'm a bit biased though since I haven't watched a Captain America movie in its entirety. I really should so I have a better idea about his back story. Despite some slight drags in the story, the battle scenes were awesome. Liked the introduction of some additional characters and the humor sprinkled in between. Avid Marvel flick viewer or not,  stay during the credits . I've had many an eye roll moment when people start leaving the theater right away. I guess hidden scenes are not that important to some, but if you choose to take my advice, there are 2 of them following this movie. Have you seen it? Let me know what you think.

Hello Kitty Cafe Truck at Santana Row

Image
Before heading to a bbq in the afternoon, much of my morning was spent waiting for the Hello Kitty Cafe truck at Santana Row in San Jose. This was the 3rd of 4 stops it would be making in the Bay Area for April. It was at the Cherry Blossom Festival a few weeks prior. That was where I saw it for the first time last year. Long story short, I was the first person in line for their Northern California debut, and it was totally unplanned. I knew I'd be there early, but not so much that everyone else had no clue where to find them. Goes to show that researching ahead of time (and also several years of experience at SD Comic Con) pays off! Although I wasn't first this time, I did happen to be among the first 10 people in line. Lucky number 7 to be exact. 2 other friends joined me before the truck opened for business. I didn't have too much of a haul planned, but I did want to get my friend one of their mugs as a belated bridal shower gift. I also got her one of the cookie sets,...

What it Do, May?!

Image
Almost half way into the year. Only a few days ago, I was humming a certain part of an N*SYNC song. Ya know the one... Anyway, looking forward to a few events this month. A good friend of mine from college is getting married, I'm attending my first baseball game of the season, and right now I'm currently in Vegas typing this post. I haven't touched my other Blogger account since 2012, so I'm back with a brand new blog. I'll leave the previous one to collect dust as it contains some stuff about relationship crap that I rather not read anyway. Stay tuned for future posts, and thanks for following if you do.

Japan Crate Mini, Volume 9

Image
For those of you that love Japanese snacks or candy, this subscription delivers them monthly within the US and internationally to select countries. The crate for March included 2 snack items and 3 candy items.  What's inside: Yuko No Yado Chips  - If you've tried Japanese rice crackers, these are similar to them. The flavor is a mix of sweet and salty. The name of the chips means "snow inn", and the triangular shape supposedly gives the appearance of a snow topped roof. Yaokin Roll Candy, Strawberry and Green Apple  - These are the gummy candy version of Fruit by the Foot. The Green Apple was my favorite of the 2. 7 Stick Choco Cream  - Wafer sticks filled with chocolate. What's not to love?! Monster Stamp Candy (Dagashi Kashi)  - Playing with your food is highly encouraged with this! Moisten the image on the bottom of the piece to use as an actual stamp. When you're done, you can eat it. The flavor reminds me of t...
