Wish List Wednesday, Volume 5

Image
December will be upon us soon, so here are a few things that I'd like to get myself for the holidays. 1. 3DS Super Mario Edition - Well, that's what I initially wanted since the updated versions have amiibo support. But I lost interest when I found out that the system didn't come with a charger. Seriously? That sucks balls for a first time 3DS buyer since they would have to purchase it separately. Luckily, I have an awesome friend that will send me their extra NFC reader and save me some funds on the investment. 2. Special Edition Battle-Worn BB-8 with Force Band - I've been wanting this droid since I saw the demo of the Force Band at CES earlier this year. Shoot, if I can't have a dog in my house, then this is the next best thing to having a pet.  3. Skagen watch - Another thing on my list of items I've had my eye on forever. It's the mesh band that attracted me to it in the first place. I don't wear a watch that often, but this may fin...

I've Been a Lazy Egg...

Image
Gudetama mode has been turned on since starting my seasonal gig late September, which is the reason for my lack of posts lately. After I'm off at 6:30, I just want to chill out and binge on TV and/or video games and/or Netflix. I do have some posts coming around soon. If I can get at least one up a week, that ought to be good, yeh? They'll be back soon.

Wish List Wednesday, Volume 4

Image
This list is a bit more random, mainly some things that I've either been keeping an eye out for or are being released in the very near future.  1. Vans Toy Story Collection - I'm still debating on whether or not to get a pair from their Nintendo collection if it's still out. But I'm liking the Alien designed Era and the Buzz Lightyear slip ons (which are for kids, so not sure if I'd be able to fit them. Darn.). 2. Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Barracuda - Darker lip colors are coming back in full force for Fall. This deep rose is too pretty to pass up.  3. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - After getting word of this during E3, I've been watching clips from this game as often as I come across them. The fact that Link cooks in it is hilarious. The only thing to decide on now is whether to get it for Wii U or as a bundle with Nintendo's new console next year.  4. Final Fantasy XV - Yet another game release that I'm lo...

It's Fall, Y'all!

Image
First day of the Fall season was last week, but here in California, it definitely doesn't feel like it yet. We've been hit with Indian Summer weather and temperatures reaching mid-80s around my area. Tomorrow will be another warm day before things start to finally cool down. I'm pretty excited about Fall since I'm back again at my seasonal gig at Kaiser, watching a concert this coming weekend, and preparing to run a marathon in a few months. I'm also trying to finish up my Project Life pages to post hopefully by this weekend. Until then, sweater weather needs to hurry up!

Project Life - August 2016

Image
Last month was spent catching up with friends, checking out a few Summer events, and more food (that's an ongoing occurrence every month, really). Used pieces from Studio Calico's Young At Heart documenter kit for these pages. August Highlights: Archery practice at SF Archers Catching up with friends in Fremont over KBBQ and in SF over coffee and donuts. Stanford Summer Jazz Series Facebook Farmer's Market Pokeball Sighting! RCubed Eats:  Japan Fair menu at Kula Sushi, Poke Wrap with Hot Cheetos from Slice Poke Bar, Lemonade Palo Alto, and the new It's It Green Tea flavor.

Thoughts On Stranger Things

Image
The Netflix Original series Stranger Things made its debut last month, and I've heard nothing but great reviews about the show. It took me a while to finally hop aboard the viewing train, but after the first episode alone, it was enough to make a viewer want to marathon the whole thing at once. I kept my composure and maxed it to 2 episodes a day. The first season only has 8 of them, so getting through it quickly is totally doable. I'll try my best to not spoil it for those of you who have yet  to watch it (if you have Netflix, you really should get on it already. Really .) The fact that it takes place in the 80s is enough to stir up nostalgia for viewers like myself who were born in that decade. Love that Wynona Rider is back to acting, and she does an amazing job of it in this series. The young actors have amazing entertainment backgrounds, with the exception of one of them having their first gig ever with this show. Okay, that's all I'm going to say about it. They p...

Wish List Wednesday, Volume 3

Image
This list includes a few things that I'd like to add to my Project Life arsenal. The next thing I'd have to do if I were to get all these things is figure out where I'd store them. I use a room in my house to do my monthly pages, but space is beginning to become limited. 1. Freckled Fawn Black/White Kit - This will be their monthly kit for September. It may be a basic palette, but it presents an opportunity to add pops of color to any spread you make with it. 2. Fuse Tool - I find myself using the same type of page protectors for Project Life more often than I'd like. Some times I don't know what to do with the awkward spaces in them. Enter the Fuse tool. This can seal in any object(s) inserted into those spaces to make pages look more complete and unique. Becky Higgins and We R Memory Keepers make one. The latter wins by a good margin because it's a little less in price, but also comes with a mat and heat resistant holster for the tool. ...

A Gastronimic Adventure: SDCC and Afterward

Image
Despite having to move around a lot during my time in San Diego, I still managed to check out a few new food places and also check off a few from my to-eat list. After picking up our Conan tickets on Thursday, some of my group was in need of sustenance. We made the treck from the Spreckels Theatre to Werewolf. Their breakfast menu is available daily until 1 pm. Not bad for a place that's mainly a bar. Eggs Benedict is one of my top breakfast foods, so I was immediately drawn to their Pork Belly Benedict. This had poached eggs and thick slices of maple glazed pork belly on top of house made potato cakes. I've had my share of this dish, but Werewolf's is by far the most indulgent. A friend and I had lunch at Lucha Libre the Monday following SDCC weekend. I've gone here a few times and have yet to be disappointed. My favorites include their Surfin' California burrito (featured on the show Man vs. Food) and their Champion's Fries. I would have kicked myself...

My SDCC 2016 Experience, Part 2

Image
Part 1 of my experience can be found here . Day 3 First line of business for Saturday was to get a wristband at the Tokidoki booth for a signing with its creator, Simone Legno. I've managed to do this several years in a row, minus one year when I didn't get to their booth in time He signed a small figure and did a sketch of Bastardino (aka Cactus Dog). It's one of the very few signings during the convention that I feel isn't much of a hassle to get into. Prior to the signing, my friend and I roamed the exhibit hall. We checked out a few booths that we had missed and also ran into some familiar faces. Danny Trejo visits the My Little Pony throne. The Walking Dead producer Greg Nicotero chats with attendees. Although I barely took any photos of attendees in cosplay (I also decided not to wear one of my costumes due to the weather being too warm/muggy), I was happy to see a few from my current favorite video game, Overwatch. And the...

Project Life - July 2016

Image
Last month's pages were all about SDCC since I didn't do anything else interesting leading up to the event. I often lag on putting pages from large events like this together because I hate experiencing the withdrawal all over again. Luckily I didn't feel it too much this time. Running into so many friends during my 5 days at the convention, along with the events that I was able to attend, made it very memorable.
