CES 2017

I've been to Vegas in January for the past few years, this one in particular marking my 6th, to attend the International Consumer Electronics Show (aka CES). Attendees to the show come from all over the US and worldwide to see the newest innovations in technology. I visited a few booths that I normally look out for, plus some new ones.

Sony is one booth that I visit every year. I always like trying out their noise cancelling headphones (although I have yet to invest in a pair). One of the current prototypes allows the wearer to press down on one side, pausing music they're currently listening to in order to engage in conversation or listen to whatever inside noise is occurring. When the pressed side is released, the music and noise cancelling resumes.

Polaroid is my 2nd favorite booth. In addition to CES celebrating its 50th year running, Polaroid hit its own milestone with their 80th anniversary. Look out for their Polaroid Pop camera, which will make a huge comeback for their 3x4 instant camera. Specs on the Pop include a touch screen, photo filters, and 12 megapixel resolution.

I wanted to check out a few products that were receiving some hype prior to the show via social media. Razer's Project Valerie gaming laptop has three 4K screens. When closed, it's comparable to a standard 17 inch laptop. This would take regular computing and gaming to the next level. I also took a look at the Retro-bit's Super Retro Boy, which will allow users to play all previous Game Boy games without the use of an additional adapter.

Robotics (from ones that can dance to ones that can make you coffee) and drones (Star Wars themed ones to ones you can actually sit in, no thank you) were also heavily present at the show. It's interesting to see how those will be incorporated to everyday life in the possible future. Lots of VR equipment could be seen around the show as well. I honestly wouldn't be able to thrive well with that since I can get dizzy or motion sick pretty easily.

I had a ton of fun at this year's show. I saw a variety of tech product and was also able to reunite with friends I don't often see. I'm looking forward to what next year's will have in store.
